Ok, there were no elephants and there was
no chaos- not in the sense that I have insinuated anyway; although it would be
far more acceptable if it were true. What I am referring to is the huge
potholes that are down every single road that you drive on. How I wish it was something
as exciting as elephants playing hopscotch. Instead, what we have is badly and
cheaply made roads which do not last and that when it rains, the tiny cracks
form craters. There is no point of buying a really fancy sports car here because
it would be damaged in seconds (even if they made it over the enormous bumps). A 4x4 is an absolute necessity. At the moment
I am driving a Rav, but because the car is not mine I am extra careful when I
am driving it. Not far from my house is a roundabout which has one of the
biggest holes around. Last night we had a huge storm; the thunder was so loud I
swear my bed was moving! Anyway, as I left this morning to run an errand I got
to this roundabout. I couldn’t really see where this massive hole was and where
the steep parts are because of all the water! So, there I am trying to go
around all the water and the holes, to then be cut up by this fancy landcrusier
who breezed through on my left, proceeding to cut me up to then turn right 10
metres later. I was furious, but also envious that I wasn’t in our Prado.
The point that I am trying to make is that
the roads are terrible and now that the long rains have started, they are just
going to get worse. So, when I drive I am going to calm myself down by
imagining elephants in fancy dress having a party and causing chaos.
